This Recipe is meant for older campers.
Decide for yourself if it is appropriate for your younger campers or not.
Required:12 inch dutch oven
Preparation:can mix all dry ingredients except nuts in a baggie at home
Ingredients:2 1/4 C flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbsp cinnamon
3/4 C sugar
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
3/4 C vegetable oil
1 egg, beaten
1 C buttermilk
1 C rough chopped nuts (pecans, walnuts, almonds, your choice)
Instructions:
  • Preheat dutch oven with 8 briquettes underneath and 16 on lid.
  • In a bowl, mix all ingredients except the nuts.
  • Pour batter into dutch oven, spreading it evenly.
  • Sprinkle nuts over top of batter.
  • Bake 30 minutes.
